We talked earlier this week about how to pick a great location. Let’s dive a little deeper into one of those top 5 characteristics: a well-performing school district.

A well-performing school district has two values. First, if you are planning on children, they will see the benefit of your research. But even if you aren’t, there is a good chance that a future buyer is and you’ll get more for your home if you reside in a desirable location.
So how do you go about figuring this out? Your agent should be able to help with this. They are generally experts about the neighborhoods that they work in and should be able to give you general guidance. If you are planning on children, or have them already, it is probably best to dive a little deeper. You can read evaluations, like this evaluation for Ralston Middle School, and ask potential neighbors. (If you’d like an evaluation for a school in San Mateo County, just shoot us an email.)
As you learned in school, it’s important to do your homework.
