Market Snapshot – The Perfect Tool for the San Mateo Home Buyer Too!

***I’m sick, but I’ll be back with your WSJ info on Friday. In the meantime, Rebecca will be giving you some technology advice. Thanks, Raymond***

My last post, Market Snapshot – The Perfect Tool for the San Mateo Home Owner, I described how a San Mateo home owner could use the Market Snapshot to stay in tune with market conditions in their neighborhood. However, the Market Snapshot, provided courtesy of Living Well in San Mateo, can also be a great tool for the San Mateo County home buyer who has narrowed down the zip code(s) in which they would like to live.

Not only is it important for San Mateo County home owners to be aware of their neighborhood real estate trends, San Mateo home buyers should also evaluate the areas they are considering living in. How does the neighborhood appreciate compared to other neighborhoods in the area? What are the schools like? What have the houses been selling for? What are current listing prices? What are the latest housing value trends? What types of homes are in the neighborhood (townhomes, larger homes, smaller homes, condominiums, etc)?

All of these questions are answered on your Market Snapshot report. This interactive report pulls information from the same Multiple Listing Service (MLS) Realtors use to search for homes, gather market data, research market trends, and prepare comparative market analyses so the information is always up to date and accurate.

The Market Snapshot report is sent by zip code. If you have a few zip codes you have already identified, sign up for a couple of reports to compare the locations. Not that far in your search, but know how much you want to pay or what size house you need? Sign up for our free Santa Clara and San Mateo County Property Search on the left hand sidebar of Living Well in San Mateo complete with detailed listings and pictures. Then, based on where these houses are located, you can begin to narrow down which areas you like and dislike. When you have identified those areas, come back and sign up for the Market Snapshot. Both services are provided complimentary by Living Well in San Mateo.

Search for San Mateo County Properties and Market Snapshot

OK, great, I’ve convinced you to sign up… but you’re still not sure how to read the report? No problem – drop us a line and we’ll sit down with you to discuss what the data means to you and your situation.

Remember, all real estate is local. Don’t rely on generic reports about the real estate market to get information about how the market is performing in the area you want to buy. Look at real data and do your homework!
