Here’s another great bit of technology that can keep you in-the-know of all the relevant information in San Mateo County.
Do you want to be alerted of local information like storms, Amber Alerts for missing children, or other emergency alerts as soon as they happen? San Mateo County Alert is a free service where you can sign up to receive emergency alerts sent via mobile phone text message, email, or pager.
When you sign up on the SMCAlert website, you can specify the four addresses you spend most of your time (home, work, school, and another address). Then, you can add other cities and unincorporated county areas through their drop down screen, or simply select the general areas on a map of the Bay Area. You will also be able to add alerts for regions and businesses in your city. Finally, you can also sign up to receive weather alerts (24 hours a day or from 7am-7pm) and just in case you didn’t feel it or are out of the area, earthquakes over 5.0.
