Raymond told you Monday about San Mateo homes and today I’ll be telling you about another San Mateo County gem, Redwood Shores. The former home of Marine World/Africa U.S.A. and now current residence of Larry Ellison and company, Oracle, as well as Madden creator Electronic Arts., Redwood Shores is a part of incorporated Redwood City.
Having lived myself for a few years just down the street from Sandpiper School, I am well versed in both the positives and negatives of the area.
First, there are a number of great reasons to make your home in Redwood Shores. With excellent schools and convenient shopping, the tranquil suburban feel is hard to deny. Add in homes that are generally newer than Belmont and San Carlos and neighborhoods that are more orderly and well-kept and Redwood Shores looks like a clear winner.
But, don’t get carried away just yet, there are some negatives as well. First, landfill scares some people and that means less potential buyers when you decide to put your home back on the market. The weather is also cooler with often windy conditions. And finally, limited accessibility to the freeway means that at rush hour, it’s very difficult to quickly cruise by EA or Oracle and attempt to join the masses getting onto 101.
That said, there can be some great buys in Redwood Shores. Take a look and tell us what you think.
