Missed our class on How to Buy a San Mateo Condo? Here are some of the learnings we discussed…
- Buying a condominium is more complex than buying a single family home
- When you buy a San Mateo condo, you are really buying two things: a place to live in or a “home” and a share of the ownership interests in a business entity called the Home Owner’s Association (HOA)
- If you are going to buy a condo, use a condominium specialist – A condominium is a unique type of real estate, and is not a property for beginner agents to use as job training
- Get your lender involved early in the process – The lender must approve the complex’s financial stability and the unit’s value
- To avoid making unwelcome discoveries once it’s too late, read all of the documentation provided by the seller and the home owner’s association – If you don’t understand it, ask questions
