Proposed High Speed Rail Planning Meeting in Redwood City

Back in November, 2008, California voters approved a bond measure to finance the construction of the California High Speed Rail system The proposed electric-powered high speed passenger rail train will run from Los Angeles to Sacramento, with extensions through the San Francisco, the peninsula, San Jose and South Santa Clara County. As the proposal is written currently, the new train will use the same track as the Caltrain on the peninsula. It’s proposed that the new trains run in the same right-of-way as the Caltrain line on the peninsula.

Interested in expressing your opinion about the California High Speed Rail project?

On Wednesday, March 4, 2009 there will be a community information and input meeting at the Veterans Memorial Center in Redwood City to discuss the San Jose – San Francisco segment of the project.

What is the purpose of the meeting?

Redwood City wants to make sure they get community input before providing official comment regarding the impact of the proposed project in the community and what issues should be included in the environmental documents. The Authority will also give information about the proposed rail line and on the possibility of a Redwood City station.

How can I submit my feedback?

Comments and concerns will be accepted through April 6, 2009. To submit your comment, send an email to comments@hsr.ca.gov with subject line “San Francisco to San Jose HST”. You can also submit your comments in writing to Mr. Dan Leavitt, Deputy Director, ATTN: San Francisco to San Jose HST Project EIR/EIS, California High Speed Rail Authority, 925 L Street, Suite 1425, Sacramento, CA 95814.
