Iron Gate Restaurant Belmont

The Iron Gate Restaurant is one of Belmont’s few fine dining restaurants. Over the years, we’ve been here several times. This time we went for Chris’ birthday and it did not disappoint.

How’s the Food at the Iron Gate?

We started with escargot, which was very good as usual. I especially like to dip the bread, which is fabulous at the Iron Gate, in the garlic butter. We also had a salad with their house creamy italian dressing, which I highly recommend.

Next, we had a variety of entrees. I had prawns and scallops, Chris had sea bass, Chela had filet of sole and Raymond had a NY Steak. Chris’ and mine came with rice and had a nice sauce. The sole and steak dinner came with their fabulous potatoes that are topped with parmesan and cream.

Their famous entree is the steak with brandy peppercorn sauce that they cook at your table. That is always fun and the sauce is excellent.

They also have a full bar and extensive wine list. In fact, they have a bar area with ample seating, so this is also a great place to go for a drink.

How’s the Service at the Iron Gate?

The service at the Iron Gate is always superior and most of the waiters have been there for years. They don’t try to rush you and really make it a leisurely meal. It is truly a fine dining experience.

For a Real Bargain, Go there for Lunch

If you want to have the same Iron Gate experience, but don’t want to pay dinner prices, you can head over there for lunch. They even have some lunch specials for as little as $10. Same great food and service.

Parking at the Iron Gate

They have their own parking lot next to the restaurant and have a few parking spots in front of the restaurant on El Camino.

Reservations Usually Recommended

If you want to be sure you get a table at the Iron Gate, I suggest making a reservation. Even if you are going early, they tend to have a big crowd in the early hours of the night, so it is always a good idea to make a reservation, especially with a big party.
