Bay Meadows

Bay Meadows San Mateo CA townhomes

Bay Meadows is San Mateo’s newest large scale development located on the former site of the Bay Meadows Race Track.  It’s planned, mixed use – residential, retail and commercial – offers something for nearly everyone…and there is more to come.

Where is Bay Meadows Located?

Bay Meadows is bordered by Franklin Parkway to the South, Highway 101 to the East, Wayne Way and Saratoga Drive to the North and Delaware Street to the West.

When Phase II is completed on the old Bay Meadows race track site, there will be even more housing, parks and recreation.

What Types of Homes are Available in Bay Meadows?

Bay Meadows has a mix of single family homes and townhomes. Most townhomes are 2-3 bedrooms with 2 and a half baths. Built in 2003, the units are updated and have that “new home” feel. Garages are long, with one car parked behind the other. The living space and half bath is on the middle floor (if you consider the garage as the ground floor) with the bedrooms and full baths upstairs.

How Much Can I Expect to Pay for a Bay Meadows Townhome?

Bay Meadows townhomes sell for between $550,000 and $650,000.

Because there are so few single family homes with very little turnover, it is difficult to estimate selling prices.

Bay Meadows Phase II Approved

The San Mateo City Council approved plans to turn the old Bay Meadows race track site into Phase II of Bay Meadows. What does this mean? More of the same…townhomes, parks, shopping and restaurants. Read our article, What’s Ahead for the Bay Meadows Race Track Property? to learn more.

How Walkable is Bay Meadows?

With restaurants, Whole Foods, shopping, Gold’s Gym and Starbucks in the neighborhood, there is plenty to walk to and see. WalkScore rates Bay Meadows a 71/100, which they call a Very Walkable neighborhood. I’d actually up that number a bit. Also, with the new San Mateo Kaiser plan and Bay Meadows Phase II in the works, the walkability of this neighborhood will only improve.
